Welcome to the Round River Cloud wiki!
This is a home server to support folks wanting to break free of big tech but struggling to find alternative options for services we have come to enjoy and rely on in our digital and physical worlds. This wiki will be a resource of what tools and services are available and how to use them.
The services are loosely ordered by which ones you might want to setup first.
Local Services
- Email not currently available localy due to how spam filters work
- Password Management so that you have a place to store all the login info for the other services
- Photos backup photos from devices and be able to easily organize and browse the photos
- File Storage and Sharing replaces Google Drive, Dropbox, etc
- Communications Video, Audio, and Text messaging
- Calendar and task management integrated into Nextcloud and easily synced with devices and services you already use
- Office collaboratively edit docs, spreadsheets, pressentations... online while still retaining offline capabilities
- Internet Speedtest, what services are currently online...
- Media Streaming self hosted movie and show streaming service
There is currently a limitation of our shitty router that causes extremely slow speeds when accessing services while on the Round River network. Current work around is to use a VPN which routes traffic off site and then back to the local server or one can access the desired service using the local ip address rather than the url. Mostly only necessary for high bandwidth needs like uploading lots to Nextcloud or Video streaming. I have included local ip addresses and ports for services you might want to access locally with speed.
